You could apply the extremist or tribal aspect to almost any subject in the news today unfortunately.
Just look at the subject of COVID for another example. Most aspects, the origin, the disease itself, vaccinations and the various government responses, can be defined as a right or left version of the story, it's become so political.
I keep hoping there will some enlightening moment in the future that will bring most people back to a bit more rational response or thought process. A just after 9/11 type moment where we aren't all at each others throats. But that didn't last too long either.
