Rich that was all over the place and not accurate. To begin the Weimar Republic was a mess because of the treaty of Versailles and reparations. They never had a chance. The rest of your rant on the media is way off always blaming someone else. I suggest that you and I have a podcast and that you listen to THE GREENFIELD REPORT. It is not only non partisan but it also offers real time perspectives and accurate history. I do thank you for trying, the effort however is not accurate.

There’s a view.

Weimar Republic was a mess. That mess, and fear of communism opener the lane for Hitler and the Third Reich. That’s what the column stated and I know you agree with that.

The remainder are all documented quotes but perhaps in Australia all of the unfettered reporting isn’t reaching you?

No Rich don't play that game, I completely disagree with your approach. You can be respectful and not flippant I am sure. And no, you cannot make excuses about communism for Hitler's rise, absolutely not. Of course there is always revisionist history to support Hitler, I was surprised you went that route.

Well, many history books, academics and authors, the Third Reich was not the only option. Something was going to replace the Weimar Republic. And the various factions split the country and the votes.

Post WWI one of those options was rising ambitions of the Russian Revolutionaries. Same as Finland had to face down.

Thus, the parallel between opposing parties opening lanes for destruction seems obvious to me. As it does today. I don’t think many like the idea of renaming the Gulf of Mexico or trash talking Canada. And few like the idea of unvetted millions entering the country, men pretending to be women and social media censoring. So we bounce from one extreme to the other.

*Being able to understand "the other side" does not mean there is room for tolerating particular views on some topics.

*You have cited "facts" that I dont belive you can support with independent scholarly research or even a broad analysis of historical events.

*Seeing that the train is going the wrong direction doesn't make a person a pessimist. Neither can ever more powerless people turn it around. That's kinda how power grabs work.

*Both having made mistakes does not necessarily mean one political philosophy's proponents are "just as bad" as another's.

*The fundamental problem is that, in simplistic terms, both dumb & mean and smart & mean governance are both bad for all of us.

I strive very hard to get the story correct.

If you would be kind enough to cite something you don’t believe factual or in agreement with broad analysis of historical events I would appreciate it. Helps the column

Whole thing is glib and, as Robert pointed out, "all over the place." But let's start with this whole paragraph and go from there:

Lest anyone think there has been a sudden takeover by a rogue administration, please recall that just a few years ago, the same people now calling everyone a Nazi were insisting on papers to access parks, restricting the goods and services one could purchase, mandating experimental medication, denying employment and covering it all with mass censorship. And in the “free” countries of Canada and Australia, one would be tailed by law enforcement, forced into confinement, or rendered a non-person by a “government of the people.”

100% of everything in that paragraph is accurate. Indeed, it was Robert Greenfield himself who confirmed the policy of the Australian government. Robert and his wife were met at the airport by Australian military and locked in a hotel. He authored a guest column on The Common Bridge about his experiences on February 24, 2022 and episode 143 on March 1, 2022.

Multiple, first-hand accounts of Canadians being trailed by the RCMP from airport to home by people known to me, and published policies of Canada’s government.

To be sure, the extremes and abuses of the Biden administration do not comprise a complete list, but enough to factually set the point the promised “return to normalcy” by President Unity didn’t occur.

Right now the tribes are digging into their respective cults and allowing craziness. We all lose unless we hold them all accountable.
