According to pre-election reports, we are just 75 days away from a Nazi takeover of the United States of America.
Garbage voters in America did not appreciate all the policies that were implemented
“for our safety.” Americans, many without college degrees, just could not muster even a token of thanks for the last four years of unity and return to normalcy. These deplorables simply didn’t understand how they benefited from censorship, broken borders, wars, inflation, lawfare, and the cover-up of a president’s dementia.
Just when the administration thought right-think was in the DNA of key constituencies, people broke with the narrative to commit election apostasy by voting against the soon-to-be outgoing administration. One can only imagine the discussions to be held within the Democratic National Committee over the next months, when they will be exposed to radical ideas like all Black men do not think alike, women have a diversity of opinion, and there are 21 different countries in Latin America.
From an August 6, 2022 Column on The Common Bridge, “Early 2024 Prediction” https://thecommonbridge.substack.com/p/early-2024-prediction
“. . .the ploy of organizing around a single candidate and dismissing challengers a la 2016 and 2020 won’t work in 2024. The “Vote Blue No Matter Who” moment has come and gone as voters want to react to the track record they’ve witnessed. If polls are to be believed, voters don’t like what the Democrats have delivered, their growing far-left wing scares people, and some of the extreme and unnecessary culture wars have alienated way too many.
The tone deafness is palpable. The Democrats kept listening to their insiders and apparently believed the legacy media was having its desired effect by caterwauling catch phrases such as “Fascist!” “Insurrectionist!” “Felon!” Presumably outside of those inner circles, people were puzzled by the time and energy that the party was putting into exaggerations and mischaracterizations of their political foes. The time could have been better spent just governing. The weaponization of courts exposed some of the depths the Democrats were willing to sink to get one man. One man who was not even in office. An exasperated Kamala Harris eventually concluded that beating Donald Trump at the ballot box would just have to be their last resort.
Building on the disdain for the expressed wishes of 14 million primary voters, the Harris campaign thought celebrities were the way to voters’ hearts. Seems weird that wildly successful people like Oprah, Taylor Swift and Beyonce weren’t all that popular in the political world. It is obvious that there is much to admire about all three of these great Americans. Each achieved extraordinary business and entertainment success through their talent, vision and hard work. The time and focus it takes to accomplish at that level doesn’t leave much space to understand politics. And it showed.
In a world where Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that government censorship was employed to stifle facts and perspectives unfriendly to the administration, where sworn testimony revealed that the U.S. Treasury Department monitored people making purchases at outdoor shops, and the TSA’s “Quiet Skies” program deployed US Marshalls to tail Tulsi Gabbard, the Harris campaign was woefully out of touch with American voters. As NBC’s Chuck Todd, in a rare moment of lucidness stated, “. . .a total misread sort of by the coastal strategists. . .” Todd, part of the group that thinks token former Congressional Reps who are now employed full-time as former Republicans is some how bipartisanship.
One must respect Vice President Harris’ grit and success in at least making a contest of the 2024 election. Also, from the from the August 6, 2022 column on The Common Bridge, “Early 2024 Prediction”:
“Questions around the president’s age and health also make the vice president candidate even more important. Vice President Kamala Harris faces almost insurmountable odds waging a believable “ready to lead” campaign.”
Seems that sufficient numbers of voters didn’t think much of programs like $25,000 for a new home or forgiving the student debt of those they perceive have enough options. More attractive to families is the ability to afford food and maybe have school choice. Or at least not have their daughters competing in sports or changing clothes with boys at their schools. And the once not-radical notion of supporting boys’ development into responsible men remains a winner. That would be a true return to normalcy.
The division, rancor and insults directed at the people needed to vote you in to office needs to stop. As Ohio Senator-elect Bernie Moreno, an immigrant himself, puts it so eloquently, “Americans are pro-immigration but not pro-invasion.” The USA needs to be open to good people who seek a better life and want to contribute to the country.
So, as the nation and the world prepare for another Trump presidency, a word of advice to the Democratic Party. Name every bill you sponsor for President Trump. The Trump Immigration Act has a nice ring to it for starters.
We now return to our regularly scheduled discussion of the issues of the day and opportunities of the moment.

Many of us are breathing a collective sigh of gratitude for a change of leadership.
